Kosmatology Review

Kosmatology is just one of those brands that hits the mark with everything they do. It started when Janis, a licensed pharmacist, grew tired of giving her 3-month-old daughter creams for her painful eczema that only provided temporary relief. She wanted  a permanent solution, so she created a ‘lotion bar’ (now known as the Goody-Goody Grapefruit Lotion Bar) that she started using on her daughter, and her daughter has been eczema free for the past 5 years!

I love hearing testimonies like this because it proves that there are natural solutions out there that don’t come with harmful side effects- and they’re often times even more effective than their mainstream counterparts.

Kosmatology has it all! She makes everything from hand soap and body wash, to lotion bars, bug repellent, and pain cream. She even has a facial line of cleansing oils and face washes. Another thing I love about her line is that she offers a wide range of scents, so whether you like fresh, floral, sweet, citrus, or minty, she’s got you covered! Oh, and did I mention the prices are extremely affordable? A nice thing to see with pricier products becoming more and more popular.

As many of her products contain essential oils, she has even taken the time to thoroughly explain the aroma and benefits of each essential oil used in her products.

I had the privilege of experiencing the Foaming Hand Soap, Body Wash, and Sugar Body Scrub from Kosmatology and I am seriously impressed!

Kosmatology Review Hand Soap

Foaming Hand Soap

Did you know that conventional hand soaps contain some of the most harmful ingredients found in skincare? They actually do more harm than good, and yes- I do mean that I’d rather go with germs than the ingredients found in most hand soaps (and I’m not afraid to admit it!) There’s just nothing clean about ingredients that are linked to cancer and hormone disruption.

Thankfully, Janis has saved the day and created a hand soap that gets the job done but doesn’t compromise your health! No more chemically-laden soaps that leave hands dry and chapped.

I’m typically not the biggest fan of foaming soaps, because they tend to be more drying than other varieties, so I was pleasantly surprised that this Foaming Hand Soap left my hands feeling clean and moisturized. (It’s great for kids, too!)

These hand soaps by Kosmatology are hands-down my favorite. They have 8 simple ingredients you can pronounce and have the perfect texture – foamy yet rich and creamy (not something I would normally expect from a foaming soap!) Plus, they come in a variety of scents.
($8.99)

Ingredients: Aqua, Organic Olea europaea (Olive) oil, Organic Cocos nucifera (Coconut) oil, Organic Elaeis guineensis (Palm Kernel) oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Organic Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil, Organic Eucalyptus globulus (Eucalyptus) Oil

Kosmatology Review Body Wash

Body Wash

If you’ve been into natural skincare for any length of time, you’ve probably tried Castile soap. It’s great… for some things, but it doesn’t work well for all skin types and can be pretty drying. Thankfully this Body Wash is formulated to work for all skin types! It cleanses skin and moisturizes at the same time- the ultimate goal for a great body wash. It has a thicker texture than Castile Soap, lathers well, and doesn’t dry skin at all. It’s actually quite moisturizing, as it is infused with olive and castor oil.

The Botanical Bliss scent is created using Lavender and Eucalyptus Essential Oil. Also comes in Grapefruit, Fresh, Free & Clear, and ‘Spruce’d Up Men’s’.  ($11.99)

Ingredients: Aqua, Organic Olea europaea (Olive) oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Chloride, Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Organic Ricinus communis (Castor) oil, Organic Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil, Organic Eucalyptus globulus (Eucalyptus) Essential Oil
Kosmatology Review Body Scrub

Sugar Body Scrub

Body Scrubs are essential no matter what time of year! In order for skin to look vibrant and smooth, exfoliation is key, which is why I love a good body scrub. Janis writes,

“The immediate effects of exfoliation is removal of dead skin cells revealing softer, smoother, younger looking skin. It will also help you get a closer shave and reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Long-term effects are the stimulation of skin cells which will increase natural oil production, improve blood flow and circulation, and slow the aging process.”

This Botanical Bliss Sugar Body Scrub is the perfect texture and smells just like lavender, which is so relaxing. The Organic Fair Trade Sugar is coarse enough to remove dead skin cells, yet not too rough. It’s infused with Grapeseed Oil that leaves skin nourished and smooth. I use this scrub about once a week. This is a must-try!

Also comes in Herbal Fresh and Goody-Goody Grapefruit. ($18.99 for 9oz – pictured above is 3 oz)

Ingredients: Organic Fair Trade Sucrose (Sugar), Organic Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed) oil, Organic Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) flowers, Organic Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) essential oil, Organic Vanilla planifolia (Vanilla absolute) oil

I think it’s pretty safe to say I’ve found a stellar brand that I’ll continue to keep in my arsenal of clean and green skincare. They also offer mini versions that are great for trial sizes or for travel!
